A great surprise

A big boy bed, visit from my mom and Nic, a new hair cut and lots and lots of painting. That's what we have been doing. I wasn't expecting my mom. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving she was waiting in our driveway for us to wake up. That was a really GREAT surprise!!!!Reading books with gaga
Playing with Playdo

Eli's first night in his new bed

It's time for a big boy bed. The first few nights where a little tricky but in no time he stayed in his bed and hasn't fallen out once. It does sit low to the ground just in case he did it wouldn't be far!!

We took Eli for a trim/haircut and Justin wanted a full hair cut. So that's what he got.

I like the shaggy look. But he sure is cute like this too. Really he's always cute. The short cut makes his cheeks more lovable then they all ready are!!!

And if you look in the background of the picture above this one and the pic with my mom reading to Eli, the mantle is black....it started like this and we painted it black. We also painted all of the trim in the house white....and I love it. I was really nervous painting it for many reasons but it's done and I LOVE it!!!

That's us in a nut shell......I hope you find joy this week in the things you do.

Grace and Peace from the Metiva's!!!!!!!

A new chapter

Well, it's official......I am a full time stay at home mom. I heard a woman once call herself a "domestic goddess". This is a new adventure. I have worked since I was 16 and many times had 2 or 3 jobs at once. This is a foreign idea, to stay home and not "work". Although raising a family is a job in itself.

This will be a true test of faith. I am a little nervous about making ends meet but I know that God will provide. I'm looking forward to the challenge of managing life in a new way. Eating at home more and spending less.
Thanks to team Hannapel for such a great place to work and great friendships. I will miss you dearly. We went to lunch to say good bye and took a group photo. I received a NICE gift card to Fields Fabrics to help pursue my passion of quilting.....I can't wait to start my next one....

Monday mornings will be strange, not having anywhere to be. Just think, I will have some of the cleanest closets on the block.....I can't wait.

Until next time....Grace and Peace....

Road trip

We made it, 22 and 1/2 hours later, we have arrived in Colorado. My mom had a fabulous dinner waiting for us when we pulled in. We relaxed for a bit, catching up, before we heading to bed. Everyone slept really well the first night here to make-up for the lack of sleep while traveling.

The next morning my brother told me that our cousins from
Austin were in Vail for a wedding. So they drove to Gypsum for a little visit. We hung out at the park for a bit to let the kids run around and play for a bit. Then it was time for them to head back to feed the kiddo's and get a nap in.

Next it was time for some ice cream.
We went to Eagle to an ice cream social. Then a little stroll through town and that's when the call came in, the the horse was ready for us. A friend of Marks has a few horses and offered to let us come ride a bit.

Eli had fun, he really loves the horses. The girls all took a turn and I was able to lead the horse around while Anna road. As she was getting off the horse my foot got in the way and the horse stepped on my toe. It kind of REALLY hurt. But thankfully my toe came out with just a scratch.

Well, it's a new day and it's raining. So we are going to head south to find the sun and maybe hike a volcano on the way back to Gypsum.

Grace and peace to you. talk soon!!!!

Gone Fishin

So, with the weather being so hot lately I thought it would be nice to head to the lake. Green Lake that is. I knew we wouldn't catch much, but i thought it would be fun to just be outside.

Justin caught the first fish. After that the gloves came off, I wasn't going to let him win. All together we caught at least a dozen blue gill and a few yellow belly sun fish, mine being the biggest, of course.

Justin was getting frustrated so he gave up. He said the fish were vultures, because they keep getting his worm without him getting them. It was rather comical to watch him get sooooo frustrated. So he decided to take Eli out in the kayak.

My big catch of the night.....a sun fish.

Eli enjoying an orange soda. This is what happens when PAPA is around......

Eli seemed to be a little scared of the fish. As we would take them off the hook and toss them back in, he would squirm just a little. We MUST work on this. I can't have him afraid of fish. I need his help taking them off my hook next year.

And this UGLY thing is a bull fish that Dan caught. It is the SLIMIEST thing I have ever laid eyes on. I must remember, God made ALL things for a purpose......

On that note, the evening was great. It was nice to spend time with the men in my life.

Only 3 days until we head for Colorado.
The calender on my fridge has been a great reminder, in case I were to forget. Ya Right.

new family member

The countdown is on.......I can't wait for our departure for CO.
There is a new family member. It's name is blue and i'm not sure of the sex. Eli is gonna have a blast with the new puppy. When we first got Wilson he was a big dog, so Eli never really experienced the whole "puppy" part of dog life. I think the will be a match made in heaven. Really what dog/toddler isn't?

ADOPTION update....
We have our finger prints done, now Justin needs a physical and then the caseworker will come meet with us to start the home-study process. My guess that will be sometime in mid July.

Please keep us in your prayers. That the timing will be Gods. For the birth-mom to have a healthy pregnancy. That she will be confident in the choice for life she is making. The whole process with Eli went sooooo smooth, I pray that this will be the same. If not, then I pray for Gods strength to get through what he has in store for us.

thanks for visiting. I will post again soon. Grace and Peace until then!

what's new

My mom made it home safe to CO with just a tiny glitch. She wasn't confident that her brakes would make it through the mountian's. So she stopped in NE to stay over night and get them fixed in the morning.....finally she made in home late Monday afternoon. I loved having her home, and she loved the 3 trips we took to Joann's that week. She missed being able to touch the fabric. You can only look online so much before you need to touch.

I, am more then ready for spring. I'm ready to start my garden and see beautiful flowers growing. Hopefully this weekend I will get a start on that.

Adoption, still nothing much there. I guess the next time you see Justin get on his case about that.

Eli is growing by leaps and bounds. Each day he repeats all kinds of new words. And it's great to here him try to tell stories in his jibber-jabber fashion. He loves to play outside and I am sure this summer there will be epic fights to get him inside at night for bed. Maybe I will just set up a tent in the yard and let him sleep out there......

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” - Philippians 2:5-8

My mom is home, well back in Michigan

I guess Colorado is her home now. I could say she brought the snow. Except it is raining in Gypsum, so that doesn't work.

On my way to work this morning I thought about taking a picture of my moms car parked in the driveway with snow on it and text it to my brother Mark. Come to find out my mom did just that!!!! Then the funny guy that he is sent a text back saying "bummer, sunny and 70 at 9am" he is at Lake Powell in UT.
Then this pic was on this FB page today (sorry it's so small, it is from his cell phone).

So tonight my mom and I are sitting here, playing on the computer, mindlessly passing the time. O and add to that ice cream. I guess that's what happens after a 20+ hour car drive and a long Monday at work.

Tomorrow, probably holds more of the same. Then Wednesday school for Eli, a walk at the mall with my friend and the grand finale.........the fabric store, yippee!!!! To find fabric for curtains.

Adoption update......there isn't one. We haven't done any of the paper work that we need to. So until we get moving on that, it's at a stand still. You could pray for us though. Maybe that a spark would light under our bums and we would get a move on. I know, I know, Eli wants to be a big brother.....I hear ya!!

Baking fun

Our attempt at Beignets.

No Cafe Du Monde that's for sure.
They of course didn't taste the same but it was fun to try. We sure did make a mess. Thanks Tasha and Anna for cleaning up.

On Friday Justin decided we needed to bake cookies,
AS A FAMILY. So I let him and Eli mix while I took pictures. Eli loves to help. I truly think we have a chef in our future.
.

And as all bakers do, you MUST taste test. Especially when the baker is 2 1/2. The ccokies taste good. And it was fun to watch them bake together. It may be a long time before
Justin decides he wants a family baking night, just a guess.

Have a good Sonday.

She's coming home

So my mom is on her way home. The weather is good and they are "tracking on time". This ride from Colorado to Michigan with Mark driving will be a much different experience for her then when we drove out and back this summer. Who would have thought that when we VACATIONED out there this summer that she would be making the trip from there to here at Christmas. Life is good and I am happy that she is there. I do miss her but am thankful for cell phones and Skype. And she still has to meet Wilson. I'm afraid once they meet him Mark will want to take him back with him.

Please as you read this take a minute to reflect on what you are grateful for and thank the Lord for the many blessings and comforts in your life.

An update

Adoption
We meet with Bethany today for the first of many meetings. This is just the beginning of our next journey. Lots of paper work and appointments ahead of us, but every moment is worth it.

Justin

Justin has finished his first 5 weeks at Grace Bible college. So far so good. He received 98 out of 100 points for the class. The two points were really silly mistakes on papers, like a comma in the wrong spot. Good thing my blog isn't graded!!!!

Eli

Eli is great
. Need I say more? Well I will. 2 years old now and NO is his favorite word right now. Just a few weeks ago it was YA. I like ya better. For now it's just a word/sound and doesn't mean a whole lot, thank goodness.

Me
I started BSF again last night and I am REALLY glad that I did. The entire lecture was very inspiring/convicting and this is what I need right now. The notebook that I brought with me to take note in is one that I used in 2008 @ BSF. It was the fall that Eli was born. It was really cool to read through my prayers and see the answered ones. Even those that came 2 years later when my mom moved to Colorado. Her moving was NOT my prayer, but rather that she find a job and be HAPPY and I think she is happy. The last prayer for that year of BSF came in May and in that, the last thing I asked for was that my dad be free from his addiction. I got that answer too, just not the way I expected. But God is faithful and brings us through those tough times.

This CHRISTmas I am glad to be excited for the season. I am excited to celebrate the birth of my Savior, who brings peace. I have no one to worry about. As crazy as that seems, it is the way I feel this year.

SO enjoy this season. Take time to play in the snow, be happy and celebrate the good in life.

Merry CHRISTmas!!!!!
