what's new

My mom made it home safe to CO with just a tiny glitch. She wasn't confident that her brakes would make it through the mountian's. So she stopped in NE to stay over night and get them fixed in the morning.....finally she made in home late Monday afternoon. I loved having her home, and she loved the 3 trips we took to Joann's that week. She missed being able to touch the fabric. You can only look online so much before you need to touch.

I, am more then ready for spring. I'm ready to start my garden and see beautiful flowers growing. Hopefully this weekend I will get a start on that.

Adoption, still nothing much there. I guess the next time you see Justin get on his case about that.

Eli is growing by leaps and bounds. Each day he repeats all kinds of new words. And it's great to here him try to tell stories in his jibber-jabber fashion. He loves to play outside and I am sure this summer there will be epic fights to get him inside at night for bed. Maybe I will just set up a tent in the yard and let him sleep out there......

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” - Philippians 2:5-8

My mom is home, well back in Michigan

I guess Colorado is her home now. I could say she brought the snow. Except it is raining in Gypsum, so that doesn't work.

On my way to work this morning I thought about taking a picture of my moms car parked in the driveway with snow on it and text it to my brother Mark. Come to find out my mom did just that!!!! Then the funny guy that he is sent a text back saying "bummer, sunny and 70 at 9am" he is at Lake Powell in UT.
Then this pic was on this FB page today (sorry it's so small, it is from his cell phone).

So tonight my mom and I are sitting here, playing on the computer, mindlessly passing the time. O and add to that ice cream. I guess that's what happens after a 20+ hour car drive and a long Monday at work.

Tomorrow, probably holds more of the same. Then Wednesday school for Eli, a walk at the mall with my friend and the grand finale.........the fabric store, yippee!!!! To find fabric for curtains.

Adoption update......there isn't one. We haven't done any of the paper work that we need to. So until we get moving on that, it's at a stand still. You could pray for us though. Maybe that a spark would light under our bums and we would get a move on. I know, I know, Eli wants to be a big brother.....I hear ya!!

Baking fun

Our attempt at Beignets.

No Cafe Du Monde that's for sure.
They of course didn't taste the same but it was fun to try. We sure did make a mess. Thanks Tasha and Anna for cleaning up.

On Friday Justin decided we needed to bake cookies,
AS A FAMILY. So I let him and Eli mix while I took pictures. Eli loves to help. I truly think we have a chef in our future.
.

And as all bakers do, you MUST taste test. Especially when the baker is 2 1/2. The ccokies taste good. And it was fun to watch them bake together. It may be a long time before
Justin decides he wants a family baking night, just a guess.

Have a good Sonday.

The past wekks

It's been a really long time since I posted last. We took a group of 22 high school students to Louisiana for a missions trip over their spring break from school. An 18 hour train ride from Chicago to New Orleans, a stop to the food court for what would be our first of many meals out and then an hour drive across the causeway to Folsum, LA.

We arrived at the camp pretty late so we settled in for what would be a long and challenging week. Sunday we headed to New Orleans for church at City Of Love and boy did we feel the love. Sunday night we went to Gulf Port, MS for Church and dinner with a students family. The BEST fried chicken I have ever had!!!!! Monday and Tuesday were work days at Glenwood Baptist Youth Camp, this is where we stayed.

Wednesday was the French Quarter for some BEIGNETs and sight seeing, then to the Audubon Zoo

All of the kids seemed to enjoy this, it was a nice break in the middle of the week to rebuild the momentum. Thursday and Friday we finished the work at the camp which included drywall and building bunk beds, while a group of about six went to MS again to repair a roof. On Friday the group that stayed at the camp meet up with the group in MS and did a little swimming in the gulf.
Eli's first swim in salt water and he really loved it. Up early on Saturday to clean the mess we had created in the girls room, gross, and then the hour drive back to New Orleans and back on the train to Chicago.

We have a great group of kids and a great group of parents who trust us enough to take their kids across country for a week. God really work in AMAZING ways last week. I am blessed to be a part of such great work our Lord is doing. May prayer for these kids, excuse me, young adults would be that they let God continue the work that he is doing in their life's. That they surrender completely to God and let Him use them in mighty ways.

Then Daniel praised the God of heaven 20 and said:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
21 He changes times and seasons;
he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.
22 He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.
23 I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king.”

Our daily reading was Daniel while we were gone.

Well, that is it for now. Time to catch up on all there is to do after a trip and catch up on my sleep!

Grace and Peace!
